Inspired and dedicated to the poetic power of the Women in Black (in 1988 in a square in Jerusalem, from the meeting of seven Israeli women who demonstrate every Friday for one hour in silence with placards reading “Stop the Occupation” enough to the military occupations of the Israeli government of the West Bank and Gaza, a wave was born that spread to twenty-four other cities, including Tel Aviv, Haifa, London, Amsterdam, New York, Rome. The DiN (Women in Black) movement became a symbol, a stimulus for the creation of women’s groups in different parts of the world, characterised by this desire to build peace and adopting its method of expression: present in body and soul, dressed in black, imposing themselves in silence and facing the gaze of the people.
