We know when we are born, but we do not know when we will die. In this common denominator, the artist invites the spectator to write the year of his or her birth on his or her body, in return for which the artist gives him or her a stone, the stone of reunion, which Jews bring to a funeral to place on the grave that marks the origin. As life (in the artist’s body) moves towards what it believes to be a moment of purification, of liberation, of beginning, it meets the limit, death; but only after breaking the circle of separation from life: small stones that mark the origin, small stones that trace the memory of the future, small stones that are strength; large stones that form the wall of weeping, large stones that are roads, large stones that are hope.
