“The creation of important dances for people, in their real lives, as a vehicle for social change and community resistance”.
This performance features 3 performers (Anja Calas, João Ventura and Federica Barcelona) and other participants in the creative workshop during the dramaturgical construction). It mixes dance, theatre and spoken word to create a visceral and engaging experience that speaks directly to the emotions and intellect of the audience.
Addressing issues related to feminism, including gender inequality, sexual violence, reproductive rights and the intersection of race, class and gender in the struggle for social justice, it challenges conventional ideas about femininity and masculinity, power and vulnerability and the role of art in social change.
We are living the love of the future, now, and this realisation alone encompasses a range of nuances compared to the happily-ever-after to which Disney films have accustomed us. Therefore, this context imposes itself as the main ‘text’ to work on, in search of a ritual folklore, and created for this show. In the era of the now and the hour that has passed, we are pushed to create, in real time, and recreate our observations.
It will be the result of a structured experimentation, a collaboration between performer, place and action. The text is based on the work of Virginie Despentes, the poetry of Herberto Helder and Anne Sexton, and original texts alongside the inherent dramaturgical process.
Ultimately, this performance is a call to action, inspiring the audience to join the struggle and place of reflection for gender equality and to work for a more just and inclusive society for all.
